WE'RE SEEKING
A HOME FOR

QUEER HEARTS.

CAN YOU HOST?
GREAT! WE TRAVEL.

The QUEER HEARTS Choir is a new UK based community that runs choir sessions in LGBTQI+ pubs, clubs and spaces. Choir session meets a cabaret night meets a queer social. The choir is non-auditioned, no ongoing commitment, no music scores - just show up, have a drink and sing.

The project will create a unique LGBTQI+ inclusive choir while making people aware that there are queer safe spaces they can be part of.

If this is something that you might we willing to partner up with us on- let's have a chat.  Our vision is below.

Drop us an e-mail on info@saydonstudio.com

VISION

QUEER HEARTS works in harmony groups which are not gender-assuming (out with the traditional Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass formation). Instead participants choose a voice part based on their confidence (singing melody, singing a harmony or singing high). It’s a tried and tested formula.

Every week, the choir runs in a queer club/pub with access to a bar throughout the entire session. The format blends a social night out with a choir session.

QUEER HEARTS is an adult queer community choir. And it is open for absolutely everyone. Unless you're homophobic or transphobic. In which case, you're not welcome at all.

WHY?

QUEER HEARTS started out as Malta's first LGBTQI+ choir called KOR KWIR for EuroPride 2023. The choir headlined the EuroPride stage in Valletta and we are so excited to be bringing this format of a choir that actively supports local LGBTQI+ business through song.

LUKE SAYDON is a multi award winning Musical Director. He's worked with over 15 community choirs of all ages and abilities. He provides a unique blend of MC’ing charm, choir technique and leadership that makes spaces like these inviting, pressureless and unapologetically queer.

QUEER HEARTS sing original arrangements spanning from pop, disco, rock, musical theatre all the way to the pride classics.

Because queer loneliness is a real thing. Trans and Non-Binary people face daily media moral panic, healthcare gatekeeping, and casual public scrutiny. Even within queer spaces, trans people often feel tolerated rather than centred.

Also because we need a fun queer choir that doesn't need to read music. Why do they assume we all did our Grade 5 music theory before we came out?

So let's make a new space, sing and thrive.

WE'RE ONE OF THE FEW QUEER CHOIRS WHO DO NOT WORK WITH MUSIC SCORES.

DIDN'T KNOW GRADE 5 MUSIC THEORY WAS A PREREQUISITE TO COMING OUT. WHOOPS!

WHY?

SEE US IN ACTION

IT'S LIKE WHEN THEY PLAY "HIT ME BABY ONE MORE TIME" AND THE CLUB BELTS "GIVE ME A SIGGGGGNNNN...".
WE'RE THAT BUT IN TUNE.
AND WITHOUT THE HANGOVER THE NEXT DAY.

THE MOTHER OF THE HOUSE

Luke Saydon is a queer composer, musical director, and theatre maker who has been leading choirs across the UK for over a decade.

His work with choirs — including Some Voices, community choirs at Wyllyotts Theatre, Find Your Voice, Sing for the Brain, dementia choirs, and young people’s choirs — centres the radical potential of people coming together to be heard, often by those who are marginalised, isolated, or have limited to the arts.

Alongside his extensive theatre-making practice with organisations such as BYMT, The Old Vic, the Museum of London, the British Library, Luke’s choral work is deeply rooted in queer community-building, creating spaces where vulnerability, joy, and political presence coexist. He is the founder of Saydon Studio, a queer theatre collective dedicated to making new musical theatre within communities, and the leader of Kor Kwir, Malta’s first queer choir. His catalogue of work reflect his ongoing commitment to queer visibility, solidarity, and activism through music.

HOW CAN WE WORK WITH YOU?

QUEER HEARTS aims to partner with safe, queer-affirming venues to host our drop-in choir sessions. We bring people into these spaces in a low-pressure, welcoming way, often introducing participants to queer venues they might not otherwise visit.

In return, we offer regular footfall, new audiences and bar customers, helping venues become spaces not just for nightlife, but for community too. We see this as a mutually supportive partnership that strengthens queer spaces while expanding access to them.
